Gloucestershire weather outlook for this evening and overnight
General Overview for the County
As daytime cloud and lingering dampness clear away from the north and west, high pressure builds to deliver a completely dry night across Gloucestershire. Skies will turn increasingly clear with light winds, allowing temperatures to fall away quickly after dark. Expect a notably chilly night in rural and sheltered spots, with minimums dropping close to 3°C and a localized grass frost forming by dawn.
Regional Area Breakdown
Forest of Dean & West:
Clear spells developing quickly this evening leading to a crisp, cold night. Sheltered valley pockets can expect temperatures to tumble into low single figures, bringing a touch of ground frost by early Thursday.
Stroud Valleys:
Sheltered steep-sided valleys will trap the declining temperatures rapidly after dark. Expect a sharp, clear drop overnight, turning quite crisp before sunrise.
Leadon Vale:
Remaining dry and settled with long clear intervals spreading across the vale. Light winds will keep conditions calm, though it will feel distinctly cooler than previous nights as temperatures dip.
Gloucester & Central Vales:
Turning dry and clear through the evening hours. Light winds and cloud-free skies will allow temperatures to drop significantly compared to the daytime highs.
Cotswolds & East:
Clear skies will dominate overnight, allowing temperatures over the high ground and rural eastern plateaus to drop sharply down towards 3°C, bringing a risk of patchy grass frost by morning.
Looking Ahead to Thursday
Any early morning chill and patchy frost will quickly clear, giving way to a fine, dry day on Thursday featuring hazy sunny spells and light winds.
